Gallery Babka in Kovačica was founded in the middle of 1991. The main goal of its founder Pavel Babka was an affirmation of young generation of painters from Kovačica, as well as getting an attention to some other artistic crafts in this town.

Gallery Babka is active by the principle of UNESCO Living Human Treasure, which involves a free transmitting of knowledge and skills in manufacturing artistic items and souvenirs to younger generations. 

In 2001, this gallery within an Ethno center Babka was acclaimed by UNESCO as the world center of publishing activities about naive painting.
